A . I like writing, and my English grades are good.
B . I like writing, but I earn B(s) or lower on writing assignments.
C . I don’t like writing, but I’m okay at it.
D . I don’t like writing because I’m worried about errors.
E . I don’t like writing for lots of reasons and would rather eat brussel sprouts than compose an essay. (No offense meant if you happen to like brussel sprouts.)
7. How comfortable are you with your guidance counselor? *
A . Extremely comfortable. S/he always has time for me, & I see her/him for help whenever I need to.
B . Fairly comfortable. Though s/he is busy, I can get the help I need from him/her in a timely manner.
C . Somewhat comfortable. S/he doesn’t seem to know me very well, but s/he can answer my questions when I need her/him to.
D . Somewhat uncomfortable. S/he is too busy to help me within a day or two of my request or doesn’t seem to be knowledgeable about my areas of concern.
E . Not at all comfortable. S/he takes a week to respond to my requests or seems to care more about things other than my needs.

A . Based on my GPA, standardized test scores, transcript and activities, any school would consider me a strong candidate.

A . I aced it! (or pretty darn close)

A . I’ve been practicing for them, so I know I’m gonna rock!
B . I’ve been preparing, but I still have work to do.
C . My grades are good, so I don’t think I need to review.
D . I don’t know much about these tests (what they cover, how they’re scored, when or why to take them…)
E . I don’t need to take any of these tests for the post-secondary options I’m pursuing.
13. How concerned are you about paying for your post-secondary education? *
A . Cost isn’t a concern for our family.
B . My family has been saving for college / trade school.
C . I will need to apply for aid, scholarships, etc., but I know how, and I’m sure I’ll get what I need.
D . I will need financial aid, but I am not looking forward to searching for info or filling out the paperwork.
E . I have no idea about how I’ll be able to afford it.

A . I have all of the following: a working transcript with my class rank, 3-6 good letters of recommendation, a well-balanced “brag sheet” or resume, decent standardized test scores, and sample autobiographical essays.
B . I’ve got 4 of the 5 components you listed in letter A above.
C . I’ve got 3 of the 5 components you listed in letter A above.
D . I’ve got 1 or 2 of the components from letter A above.
E . I haven’t started gathering these materials yet.
15. How are you feeling about life after high school? *
A . Totally excited! I can’t wait to move on.
B . I will miss high school, but I do feel ready for the next step.
